Ms. Ito briefed the audience on the security risks she manages on the campus network at UH and their satellite campus’ on island and throughout the outer islands. With so many students connecting to their networks it is a daunting task to protect the network with so many bring your own devices (BYOD) being used. She spoke of a shortage of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) professionals which was a lead in for Mr. Auerbach to explain the programs being offered by PCATT. Ms. Ito and Mr. Auerbach took turns explaining the plans each of their organizations are offering to attract STEM professionals and the need to start grooming them at an early age, and to track their progress from the beginning and to follow them throughout their career. Both organizations have partnered together and assist each other with their curriculum to recruit and educate tomorrows STEM professionals.

Joshua provided extensive support and solutions to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Pacific remotely from DISA Headquarters before becoming the first RBR-Technologies employee to leave the Maryland/DC area arriving on site June 2015 as DISA Pac’s SharePoint developer. Upon arrival he immediately got to work collaborating with DISA leadership and his counterparts on the SharePoint team to transition the culture of customer tracking & reporting away from Microsoft Word and Power Point documents into data intensive dashboards hosted on their SharePoint environment. The migration onto SharePoint has improved DISA customers’ abilities to execute their duties by automating processes, creating more professional briefing tools, and utilizing better knowledge management practices. This in turn has improved how information is disseminated to stakeholders, service components throughout the Pacific theater, to the Pacific Command, and globally enabling Joshua and his team members to be awarded the 2016 DISA Pacific Outstanding Achievement in the Computer & Computer Software field award.
