About AFCEA Hawaii
AFCEA Hawaii is made up of over 800+ members representing the military, federal government, and industry. Though we may have diverse backgrounds, our unified goal is to support the mission of AFCEA and ultimately, the security of our great nation.
Our membership is proud of its recognition and accomplishments that includes:
AFCEA International’s Albert J. Myer Award for Model Chapter of the Year and Total Membership Growth – These two national awards recognize AFCEA Hawaii’s achievement and membership growth.
AFCEA Hawaii Awards – Monthly recognition is provided to acknowledge individuals who have significantly contributed to the organization, the C4I field, and the community.
AFCEA TechNet Asia – Pacific Conference – The conference was started in 1986 by three members of AFCEA Hawaii, Ken Wiecking, Tom Lawrence, and Donna Russell. From its humble beginnings in Hangar 25 at Hickam AFB, with presentations in the old Aloha Theater at Hickam, the conference has grown to over 3,000 attendees and is held at the beautiful Royal Hawaiian and Sheraton Waikiki Hotels on the beach at Waikiki.
Educational Support Programs – Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students in the field of mathematics, science, and computer technology. Support is also provided to the Hawaii State High School Science Fair in the form of grants for outstanding science projects. Additionally, funding is available to AFCEA Hawaii members who wish to improve their education and technical expertise. Lastly, financial support is available to help support educational seminars for AFCEA Hawaii members.
Monthly Luncheon Program – From January – November on the second Tuesday of the month, AFCEA Hawaii conducts a luncheon in which key issues such as the role of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Army Information Technology, telemedicine, and the Pacific Missile Range are presented by distinguished speakers.
Social and Networking Events
AFCEA Hawaii Membership Socials – This semi-annual event provides an opportunity for members to network or just “swap war stories” in an informal environment. There’s always lots of drinks and good food.
AFCEA Hawaii TechNet Golf and Tennis Events – Held annually in conjunction with the TechNet Asia – Pacific Event. These events are popular among vendors, sponsors, members and participants and always sell out. This is a good way to wind down the week, and to socialize and network.
